A carefully targeted dissemination strategy will be followed to maximise the impact of the project, both within the project period and following its completion. The principal dissemination activities and routes are summarised below:
CEN Standardisation Committees
The principal dissemination route for the outcomes of this project will be through appropriate CEN Committees for the development of new and improved Standards and Design Codes. This dissemination will occur throughout the project period and also beyond the project completion date as the project's final recommendations are implemented. The participation of all the partners on relevant EU CEN committees will be critical in achieving this plan and will help to speed up change.
Best Practice Guidance
Best Practice guidance, targeted specifically at industry, will be produced to facilitate and encourage take up. It will also help to ensure a consistency of approach and lead to common practice across Europe. Specific guidance will be produced on the different workpackages in the project. It will be available in a modular format that and also will be offered as a combined package that deals with the entire chain. In addition to making this package available in paper format, it will also be included on the project Web site for open access. Awareness of the best practice guidance will be promoted through article in relevant trade and professional journals
Trade and professional press
It is intended to submit articles to relevant trade and professional journals across Europe to promote and raise awareness of the project and its recommendations. This will also be used to raise awareness of the best practice guidance. Feature will be submitted at 6 monthly intervals (minimum) throughout the project period
Scientific Journals.
Publication of papers in scientific journals and at relevant conferences will be carried out to reach the European research community. At least one scientific paper per year is anticipated
Project Web site
A web site for the project will be established at its inception which will be used to raise awareness of the project objectives and will include relevant outputs as they are produced during the project. The web site will contain the e-mail address of the Co-ordinator to facilitate electronic communication with interested parties outside the project.
COST Actions
Close relationships with relevant COST Actions (networking activities funded by the EU) will be maintained. Participation in Management Committee and Workshops of relevant Costs Actions (eg COST E10, Wood Properties for Industrial Use) will provide good avenue for dissemination.
Together the activities described above will help to maximise impact both within and outside the project. Any other opportunities that arise that help to promote take-up of the projects findings will be considered and appropriate actions taken.
